Calalta makes Taiger from Tai Rosso, the Veneto’s name for Garnacha, farmed naturally in IGP Veneto. Ten months in stainless steel keep it light and fresh, with red berries, floral lift and a herbal edge.
Description
Calalta makes Taiger from Tai Rosso, a local Veneto name for Garnacha, grown in the IGP Veneto of northern Italy. Tai Rosso is native to the Colli Berici area and gives pale, perfumed, low-tannin reds when handled for freshness rather than power. This is a natural wine, farmed and made with minimal intervention, and it is aged for ten months in stainless steel rather than wood, a choice that preserves the variety's bright red fruit, floral aromatics and low-tannin profile without any oak influence. At 12.5 percent alcohol it stays light on its feet. The colour is a pale, luminous ruby. The nose is fresh and perfumed, with red berries, cherry, rose and white peach over a faint herbal note. The palate is light bodied and juicy, with crisp acidity, soft tannin and a clean, slightly savoury finish. This is a red to drink young and lightly chilled, when its freshness shows best. Serve at 13 to 14 degrees. It suits lighter dishes, roast chicken, charcuterie, vegetable plates and mushroom dishes, and is flexible enough to stand in for a white at the table.
