A single-cask Jamaican bottled by Cadenhead’s under its Green Label at 13 years, bright and tropical with pineapple, lime and mango over a roasted, caramelised pot-still base, estery enough to suggest one of the heavier Trelawny marques, at 46%.
Description
Cadenhead's Green Label Jamaican Rum is a 13 year old single-cask Jamaican from Cadenhead's, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, in its long-running Green Label range. The pot-still character is unmistakable, bright, tropical and estery enough that some tasters place it among the heavier Trelawny marques.
Distilled from molasses on pot stills and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it opens with pineapple, lime, young wood and mango, leading into a palate of oak, pineapple and roasted, caramelised notes. The finish keeps the oak and pineapple alongside an alcoholic lift and a tangy, yoghurt-like edge. Bottled at 46% in the whisky-house style, with dosage not declared, it shows the fruit-forward, slightly diluted side of aged Jamaican pot-still rum, a characterful single cask for drinkers who enjoy bright tropical esters with some oak backing.
