A Classic Rum from Cadenhead's, the long-running Scottish house bottling in the whisky tradition of natural strength and no additives. It blends Guyanese column and pot still spirit from the Diamond distillery, an unsweetened, ten year old Demerara built more around dry wood and structure than around dark molasses richness.
Maturated from molasses in ex-bourbon casks at 50%, it noses on dried fruit and intense oak, then turns spicy and woody on the palate with dried apricot and a brandy-like fruitiness, finishing on leather, brandy, vanilla and chocolate. The dry, slightly austere profile reflects the bottler's purist style rather than any crowd-pleasing sweetness, so it reads as a rum to study rather than to lounge with. A solid, honest indie Demerara for drinkers who value restraint and wood over funk.
