Cà du Ferrà farm terraces above the Ligurian coast at Levanto. This young, unoaked Vermentino is fresh and mineral, with peach, golden apple and wildflowers over a saline, seaside finish.

Description
Cà du Ferrà work the steep coastal hills of the Colline di Levanto, in eastern Liguria, where the vineyards are terraced into slopes that fall towards the sea. The soils are thin and stony over sandstone, and the constant salt-laden wind off the Mediterranean, together with strong maritime light, shapes a Vermentino of freshness and cut. This bottling is young and made without oak, fermented and kept in steel to protect the primary fruit and the grape's herbal edge. Steel holds temperature low and locks in the aromatics, while the absence of wood keeps the wine bright and mineral rather than broad. The colour is pale straw, the nose offers white peach, golden apple, wildflowers and a herbal, saline lift, and the palate is crisp and light-bodied with lemon, almond and a savoury, seaside finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
