Burnside 15 Years Old Es Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Eaglesome Ltd.)

Single malt Springbank, an independent Eaglesome Ltd bottling matured to 15 year old and bottled at 46%. Springbank has distilled in Campbeltown since 1828, famous for doing everything on site, from floor malting to bottling. The family owner also holds Cadenhead's, the oldest independent bottler in Scotland.

It was distilled the Springbank way, two and a half times from floor malted barley, with the spirit condensed in worm tubs. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the spirit. Past a decade the oily spirit deepens, fruit and salt knitting with the oak. A patient maturation suits the rich, complex Campbeltown spirit. Today just three distilleries survive in the old Kintyre whisky town. The maritime warehouses by the sea lend the malt its briny, oily depth. A 1940s Porteus mill and an open iron mash tun are part of the old setup. The Mitchell family has held the distillery for five generations.

At 46% it is smooth and oily. A coastal, waxy spirit with gentle peat sit over vanilla, honey and coconut. A waxy weight and a saline tang give it real body. The finish runs deep, briny and warm. This is a revered Campbeltown single malt.
