Double-V is a small Dutch independent bottler with a focus on single-cask releases, often at natural strength and aimed at the specialist whisky club and private-buyer market across the Benelux region. The Private Cellar Cask range collects individual casks selected for their character rather than their headline age. This 11 year old Bunnahabhain comes from cask 900068, an Oloroso-matured single cask distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2024 at 57% natural strength.

Cask number 900068 sits in the typical first-fill sherry butt numbering range used for spirit laid down in Bunnahabhain's warehouses around 2013. At eleven years, Oloroso-matured Bunnahabhain hits the integration window where the cask wood's nutty fig-and-walnut character has had time to fuse with the spirit but hasn't yet pushed into the heavier concentrated register of much longer maturations.

Bunnahabhain's distillate runs through the tallest pot stills on Islay, with unusually long swan necks that promote a lighter, more delicate spirit character, since the heavier compounds simply can't reach the summit and reflux back into the still. That gives the unpeated production its house signature of oily texture and lightly maritime brine, both of which carry well under sherry maturation. Expect the classic sherry-Bunnahabhain profile: walnut, dried fig, leather, toasted oak, with the spirit's natural salinity running through. Natural colour, non-chill-filtered, single cask.
