Description
Brovia is a long established family estate in the Barolo zone of Piedmont, farming organically across several of the region's best sites. This wine comes from the Brea cru, the Vigna Ca Mia parcel, in the commune of Serralunga d'Alba. Serralunga's soils are rich in limestone and compacted marl, which produce some of the most structured and long lived Barolo. Nebbiolo ripens slowly here through cool, foggy autumns, building the perfume, high tannin and firm acidity that define the wine. It is aged in large Slavonian oak casks, where slow, gentle oxygen exchange rounds the tannin over time without adding obvious oak flavour, followed by a further period in bottle before release. The colour is pale garnet. The nose is layered, with red cherry, dried rose, tar and a savoury, leathery note. The palate is full and firmly structured, with high, fine tannin, bright acidity and a long, earthy finish marked by liquorice and dried herbs. At 14 percent it is built to age. Serve at 18 degrees with a long decant. It suits braised red meat and game.
