Description
Bristol Classic Rum has spent three decades chasing down older Caribbean and Central American casks, and this single vintage from 2000 sits squarely in that liquid-history tradition. Drawn from Nicaragua, a country whose column-still molasses rums tend toward the drier, cleaner end of the Spanish style, it carries two full decades in the tropics behind it. Aged in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 47%, it should show the warm vanilla, toffee and dried-fruit register typical of long-aged Nicaraguan rum, with the firmer proof keeping things from sliding into outright softness. Bristol leans purist, so expect the oak and spirit to do the talking rather than added sweetness.
