Exopto makes this Rioja rosé from equal parts Garnacha and Tempranillo grown on old vines of 30 to 50 years on clay and limestone. Hand harvested in small boxes and rested on tank, it is fresh and dry, with red berries, cherry and a saline edge.
Description
Bozeto de Exopto Rosado is the rosé in the Exopto range from D.O.Ca. Rioja, a blend of equal parts Garnacha and Tempranillo. The fruit comes from old vineyards of 30 to 50 years old, planted on the clay and limestone soils that give Rioja whites and rosados their structure and freshness. The harvest, between September and October, is picked into 12 kilogram boxes so the grapes arrive whole and do not break or begin fermenting on the way to the winery, which protects the fruit and keeps the wine clean. After a gentle pressing the wine is fermented cool and then rests six months in tank, settling on its fine lees to build a little texture and roundness while holding the bright fruit and dry finish. The colour is a fresh pink. The nose shows red berries, cherry and redcurrant over white peach and citrus, and the palate is dry and fresh with juicy acidity and a clean, faintly saline close. Serve well chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees. It is a versatile table rosé for grilled pork, poultry and shellfish.
