Bounty Premium White

Bounty Premium White is a young white rum from Saint Lucia Distillers, made on a Coffey column still from molasses, aged a couple of years in ex-bourbon and then filtered clear, bottled at 40%. It is a workhorse white built for the bar rather than for neat contemplation.

The nose is fresh and citrussy with coffee and a faint alcoholic note, and the palate is fruity and broadly balanced, light citrus, coconut and vanilla over a slightly hot, industrial edge. The finish is citrussy, smooth and lightly oily. It is uncomplicated and a touch raw, more honest than refined, but it punches above its price as a value option. Its natural home is in highballs, Daiquiris and other mixed drinks, where its clean citrus and coconut character does the job without fuss, rather than as a rum to sip on its own.
