Bounty Premium Gold

Bounty Premium Gold is an entry level gold rum from Saint Lucia Distillers, a 3 year old column still molasses rum matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40%. Saint Lucia is the island's everyday brand, and this expression is squarely a mixer.

The profile is gentle and on the light side, with vanilla, butterscotch and honey on the nose and a soft, lightly spiced palate over a fairly thin body, finishing flowery and sugarcane tinged. It is not spiced, which works in its favour, but the character stays restrained and a touch generic for neat drinking. This is a rum that does its best work in a glass with cola or juice, where its soft vanilla sweetness adds an easy lift. Drinkers already fond of the island's more characterful sippers will find it slight, but as a straightforward gold mixer it does the job.
