Botran Anejo Sistema Solera 8 is a Guatemalan molasses rum, column distilled and built using the solera method, a fractional blending system borrowed from sherry where younger and older rums marry over time. The 8 refers to the solera rather than a flat age statement, so it is best read as a young blend carrying a trace of older spirit, not a rum aged a full eight years.

The profile is light and gentle, with woody, dried fruit and sweet notes on the nose, and a thin, sweet, lightly sugared palate. Some find it balanced and pleasantly spiced when sipped, while others see it as too simple to take neat and better suited to mixing.
