Description
Born Rosé Barcelona works in the D.O. Penedès in Catalonia, and this pink sparkling is made from 100 per cent organically grown Pinot Noir. It is vegan and made with low added sulphur, from organic grapes fermented and then gently matured before bottling. The tank-based approach preserves the fresh red fruit and floral character of the Pinot Noir rather than developing bready weight, and the wine finishes Brut and dry.
The colour is a bright pale pink with a fine, persistent bead. The nose leads with strawberry and raspberry, with red currant and pomegranate over a light floral note. The palate is crisp and fresh, with red-berry fruit, balanced acidity and a clean, dry close carrying a hint of ripe sweetness. Serve chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass as an aperitif, or with charcuterie, roast poultry and lighter pork.
