Description
Borghetti is a coffee liqueur from Italy, created in 1860 by the coffee merchant Ugo Borghetti, drawing on the old Italian habit of taking coffee cold and laced with spirit. Freshly roasted and ground Arabica and Robusta beans are brewed to an espresso, then blended with alcohol and sugar without added colourings or artificial aromas, and bottled at 25%.
The nose is strong espresso with dark chocolate and roasted beans, the palate full bodied, velvety and sweet with freshly brewed coffee, caramel and a hint of vanilla, the finish long with lingering coffee and a subtle bitterness. Behind the bar it brings real coffee roast, body and sweetness, the working base for an Espresso Martini or a Black Russian where it carries the coffee weight. It also lifts tiramisu and other desserts. Pour it neat, chilled or over ice, or shake it cold with espresso and vodka.
