Bols Holunderblüte Liqueur

Bols Holunderblüte comes from Lucas Bols, the Amsterdam house founded in 1575 and one of the oldest active distilleries in the world, made from natural elderflowers of the Sambucus nigra and a gentle sweetness. Bottled at 17% in 70cl, it sits in the floral end of the range. In the traditional macerated style the elderflower leads, lifted by a touch of citrus.

The nose is an intense bouquet of fresh elderflower with a hint of citrus, the palate pleasantly sweet with floral notes and a subtle freshness, the finish long, floral and harmonious. Its job in a glass is floral lift and a gentle sweetness, which makes it a natural in a Hugo, a Blossom Spritz or an elderflower fizz, and it dresses sparkling wine in an instant. It balances especially well against citrus juice, where the floral sweetness meets a fruity freshness. Pour it neat over ice, or top it with sparkling wine for a quick aperitif.
