Description
Bols Gold Strike is a cinnamon liqueur from the Amsterdam house Bols, distilling and blending since 1575, carrying flakes of 24 carat gold leaf that drift through the bottle. Its recipe draws on imported herbs, seeds and roots with orange and curacao peel as the main aromatics, built to a high strength of 50% that pushes the spice forward.
The nose is dominant cinnamon with a light orange freshness and a subtle sweetness, the palate full bodied and spicy with a clear cinnamon note over orange and curacao, the finish long and warming with a glint of gold. Behind the bar it adds cinnamon heat, citrus depth and visual drama, the gold flakes catching the light in a clear serve. It pours neat or over ice to show off the spice, fires up spiced and winter cocktails, and adds a warming note to a hot drink. Serve it cold and shaken so the gold lifts and swirls.
