Bols Cacao Brown comes from Lucas Bols, the Amsterdam house distilling and blending liqueurs since 1575, and sits within the brand's range of bar liqueurs, bottled at 24% in 70cl. It is built on a high-quality cocoa extract and finely balanced distillates, the brown variant carrying a deeper, darker chocolate character than the white Cacao. In the chocolate liqueur style the cocoa leads, framed by vanilla and a gentle sweetness.

The nose is dark chocolate, roasted cocoa beans and fine vanilla, the palate full-bodied and velvety with pronounced cocoa, subtle caramel and a gentle sweetness, the finish long with a balance of chocolate and light spice. Its job in a glass is chocolate flavour and body, which makes it a base for chocolatey cocktails: a Brandy Alexander, a Mudslide or a chocolate martini all lean on it. It also lifts desserts, pairing with vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate or fresh berries. Pour it neat over ice for a chocolate digestif.
