Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur

Bols Blue Curaçao comes from Lucas Bols, the Amsterdam house distilling and blending liqueurs since 1575, made from the peel of curacao oranges grown on the island of Curaçao. Bottled at 21% in 70cl, it is a curacao, an orange liqueur, blue in the glass but orange in flavour, its colour the calling card behind the bar.

The nose is citrus-fresh orange with a subtle sweetness and a slight bitterness from the curacao peel, the palate fruity and tangy with an intense citrus note over a mild sweetness, the finish refreshing and lively with a citrusy close. Its job in a glass is orange flavour with a vibrant blue colour, which makes it the base of a Blue Lagoon or a Blue Cosmopolitan and a colour highlight in fruity drinks. Pour it neat or over ice for a refreshing change. The orange flavour holds even though the liquid is blue, the point buyers reach for when they want the colour.
