A four year Guadeloupe agricole from Bologne, made from black and red cane juice and finished in ex-cognac French oak, warm with cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate over figs and woody spice at a gentle 42%.
Description
Bologne is a Guadeloupe agricole distillery on Basse-Terre, working from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice under the island's IGP. This Reserve Speciale is a blend of rums aged at least four years, drawn from black and red cane varieties, distilled on a Creole column.
Matured in French oak that previously held cognac and bottled at 42%, it leans toward a spiced, dessert-edged profile while keeping its agricole backbone. The nose offers cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate and a fruity lift, the palate brings cinnamon, wood, vanilla and cocoa, and the finish turns to figs, spice and chocolate. The cognac-cask influence adds warmth and a confected edge to the cane core, making it a rounded, easygoing agricole for those who enjoy a softer, spice-forward style over a sharp, grassy blanc.
