Bologne Blanc

Bologne is a Guadeloupe distillery on Basse Terre working from fresh pressed cane juice, and this Blanc is its unaged white, distilled on a column still in the agricole tradition and bottled at a useful 50%. It is pitched as a dependable, affordable everyday white rather than a showpiece, the kind of bottle that earns its place behind the bar.

The nose is fresh and fruity with sugarcane, florals and a vegetal lift, the palate sweet and round over clean cane, the finish light and vegetal with a hay like note. The cane juice character is honest and clear, the profile straightforward and easy rather than complex. At full strength it has plenty to give a cocktail, making it a solid workhorse for Ti Punch, longer mixed drinks and rhums arranges, and pleasant enough neat for those who like a fresh, no fuss agricole blanc.
