A high proof agricole blanc from Bologne in Guadeloupe, fresh cane juice distilled to a vivid white, banana and floral aromas opening onto tropical fruit, citrus and white pepper, fresh and lively at a punchy 55%.
Description
Bologne distils on Basse Terre in Guadeloupe from fresh pressed sugar cane juice, an agricole style blanc under the island's IGP rather than the Martinique AOC. Unaged and bottled bright, it is built to show raw cane character at full volume, the kind of white rum that captures the spirit straight from the still with all its freshness intact.
The nose leads on banana and floral notes with citrus and a peppery lift, while the palate brings tropical fruit, citrus and white pepper over a faint sweetness, finishing round with a tropical fruit and mineral edge. At a punchy 55% the cane juice intensity comes through clearly, the freshness and snap that define a good blanc rather than any oak influence. Unsweetened and lively, it is made for a Ti Punch with lime and cane syrup, or for adding backbone to a daiquiri, a bright Guadeloupe white that drinks with energy.
