Malty and round, with grain-sweet honey, vanilla and gentle juniper over a soft, almost creamy body. This Oude genever follows a 19th-century recipe and the old Dutch rule of at least fifteen percent malt wine, distilled in copper at Bokma. A warming, traditional sip with a faint oak shadow on the close.

Description
Bokma Oude Genever keeps faith with a centuries-old Dutch tradition, where "Oude" describes the old style rather than any cask age. The defining feature is malt wine, at least fifteen percent of it, which lends a creamy texture quite unlike a dry London gin. Made to a 19th-century recipe from quality grain and careful copper distillation, it balances malty body against juniper and a fine herbal spice at a gentle 38%.
The nose is malty, with juniper, sweet grain and fine herbs. The palate is soft and round, grain, vanilla and honey carrying a light spice, before a medium, smooth, malty finish touched with oak. Best enjoyed neat or over ice to let the malt speak; it also anchors a fine Holland Negroni and sits beautifully beside smoked fish or roasted nuts.
