Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 1992 MBl The Maltman (Meadowside Blending) is a blended malt Scotch from Meadowside Blending. It vats malts from several distilleries, Cardhu lending a soft Speyside heart. Water comes from springs on Mannoch Hill and the Lyne Burn.

Cardhu lends a soft, honeyed Speyside sweetness to the blend. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the gentle spirit. Refill oak lets the light, honeyed Cardhu character lead the way. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. The distillery was known as Cardow until 1981, when it took the name Cardhu. A gentle maturation suits the soft make, the fruit growing richer with time. The pear shaped stills give a light spirit that ages with grace. Cardhu's softness is what made it the heart of Johnnie Walker. Years in oak round the spirit, the apple and pear deepening to honey.

At an approachable 42% it is soft and easy. Soft orchard fruit, honey and a gentle spice run through it, smooth and approachable. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. A smooth, honeyed finish ends on pear and vanilla. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
