Description
Blanc d'Orto comes from Orto Vins in the D.O. Montsant, the appellation that rings the Priorat, made as a single variety Garnacha Blanca. The fruit is drawn from five estates around El Masroig and Torre de Fontaubella, covering just over 1.5 hectares of mainly calcareous soil rich in clay and gravel. The vines are old, between 40 and 60 years, trained as low bush vines, and their age brings deep roots, low yields and greater concentration in the fruit. Montsant's warm inland climate ripens Garnacha Blanca fully, which shows in the wine's riper profile and its 14 percent alcohol, while the calcareous ground and cool nights keep enough acidity to hold it in balance. The colour is bright straw gold. The nose is generous, with white peach, ripe melon and pear leading, backed by apricot and the bitter almond note typical of old vine Garnacha Blanca. The palate is dry and full bodied, textured and round, with a herbal, savoury edge and a long, gently nutty finish. This is a white with weight rather than sharpness. Serve at 11 to 12 degrees in a broad glass.

Additional information
Its weight and ripe fruit suit roast chicken, grilled or baked white fish, and roasted root vegetables. It also handles pork and dishes with a little richness, where a leaner white would be lost.
