At 60% the botanicals come out swinging: spicy juniper, sharp lemon zest and a peppery, faintly floral heat. Distilled on the Shetland Islands with foraged water mint and meadowsweet, this 2012 vintage bottles a single harvest at full strength. Powerful, warm and remarkably composed for its proof.

Description
Blackwoods draws its botanicals from the wild, wind-scoured Shetland Islands, and this 2012 Superior Edition bottles a single year's harvest as a vintage. Alongside classic juniper sit Shetland-gathered water mint, meadowsweet, angelica and lemon peel, distilled in traditional copper stills in small batches. Because each vintage reflects that season's foraging, no two years taste quite the same, and this one arrives at a formidable 60% to throw its aromatics into sharp relief.
The nose is fresh and forceful, juniper and lemon zest over herbs and a floral lift. The palate is full-bodied and complex, dominant juniper spice and citrus freshness underpinned by a quiet herbal note, while the finish runs long, warm and peppery with a slight floral edge. Build it into a bracing Martini, or temper it with a neutral tonic and a sprig of rosemary.
