A cask strength Port Mourant single cask from Blackadder, distilled in 2008 and finished in port casks before bottling at 10 years and a forceful 57.6%, built on the oily anise and dark fruit of Guyana’s most iconic still.
Description
Blackadder is a Scottish bottler known for raw, undiluted single casks, and this 2008 comes from Port Mourant, the legendary double wooden pot still that is the icon and the heaviest profile of all Demerara marks. It was finished in port casks and bottled at a powerful 57.6%.
Port Mourant is unmistakable, oily and pungent with anise, liquorice, pencil shavings and dark fruit such as prune and plum. The port finish layers red fruit sweetness over that backbone, while the full proof keeps everything intense. Molasses based and built from greenheart wood distillation no modern still can replicate, it is a polarising powerhouse for drinkers who want Demerara at full volume.
