A cask strength single cask Beenleigh from Australia, bottled by Blackadder from the 2008 vintage at thirteen years and a fierce 65.1%, dry and oaky with orange, nougat, apple and vanilla over charred wood.
Description
Blackadder, the Scottish bottler known for raw, unfiltered single casks, chose this thirteen year old Beenleigh from Queensland, distilled in 2008 and bottled undiluted at a powerful 65.1%. It captures the classic profile of Australia's oldest distillery, here at full intensity from a single ex-bourbon barrel.
The spirit shows heavy cask influence in the Beenleigh manner, charred wood and a balsamic depth framing orange, nougat, apple and dried fruit, with vanilla and oak carrying the long finish. Despite the towering proof the alcohol is reported well integrated, the nose ample with dry herbs and cedar. Unsweetened and bottled at cask strength, this is a sipper for the patient and the well watered, the oak and stone fruit holding up to dilution.
