Black Work Pirates Rumlikör Kokosnuss

Black Work Pirates sell this under the Pirates banner as a Rumlikör, and the label is the honest guide here: this is a coconut rum liqueur, sweetened and flavoured, not an aged sipping rum. It pours a pale gold and goes all in on one idea, ripe sweet coconut, with sugar close behind.

The aroma is loud and creamy with coconut and only a faint whiff of spirit, and the palate follows suit, thick and sugary with that same tropical coconut note carrying through to a short finish. There is no oak depth to chase and none is intended. Treated for what it is, a sweet novelty pour, it does the job: serve it very cold, drop it into a pina colada or a coconut Daiquiri, or pour it over ice as a dessert dram. Anyone expecting a dry rum should look elsewhere.
