A Marie-Galante blanc from Bielle bottled at 40%, bright and minty with grass and lime, the palate all fresh sugar-cane, lime and citrus closing crisp and faintly bitter, a lime-forward white made for Ti Punch.
Description
Bielle Rhum Blanc Agricole is an unaged blanc from Bielle on Marie-Galante, the small Guadeloupe island known for cane-variety experiments and high-proof whites. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice rather than molasses, it shows the bright, citrus-driven side of island agricole, though at 40% it is gentler than the 55 to 59% blancs Marie-Galante is often known for.
The nose opens with a fruity burst, then turns vegetal and fresh, with grass, lime, a hint of menthol and a touch of iodine. The palate is predominantly vegetal and earthy, leaning hard on fresh sugar-cane, lime and citrus, and the finish stays fresh and cane-driven with green fruit and a faintly bitter edge. The lime character is the signature, making it a natural for a Ti Punch where you might use a little less lime than usual. Bottled unsweetened, it is a crisp, lime-forward white agricole that mixes beautifully while staying expressive enough to taste neat.
