Description
Bielle's Fut No. 120 is a single-cask vieux from Marie-Galante, drawn from a 2015 vintage and pressed from fresh sugar-cane juice rather than molasses. Bottled unsweetened in the agricole tradition, it captures one barrel's particular character rather than a blended house style.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, eight years have given it a rounded but drying profile: soft caramel, coffee candy and orange peel set against an earthy, faintly mushroom note on the nose, then woody, peppery citrus across the palate before a finish of caramel, barrel, mocha and drying black-tea tannins. The estate's signature orange and honey markers run through it. At 53.8% it rewards slow sipping and a little time to open in the glass, a pleasant, well-made single cask that leans drier and punchier than Bielle's softer bottlings.
