Description
Bielle Brut de fut 2008 is a thirteen year cask strength agricole from Bielle on Marie Galante, an island whose small distilleries punch well above their size. A full proof bottling of this maturity from the house is widely regarded as one of its high points.
Distilled from fresh pressed cane juice on a column still and matured thirteen years in ex bourbon oak under tropical heat, it carries the structure of a long aged cane juice rum without losing freshness. The nose offers spice, candied and red fruit and chocolate, the palate spice, fruit, oak and baking spice, and the finish lingers on florals, candied fruit and wood. Bottled unsweetened at 55.1 percent, it stays intense yet remarkably rounded, the citrus and spice carrying an almost endless close, a contemplative agricole built for slow, unhurried pours.
