Description
Bicicletas y Peces Rosado comes from Family Owned Wineries, a venture set up in 2013 by two Spanish families with deep winemaking roots, the oenologists of Celler Tianna Negre in Mallorca and Bodegas Juan Gil in Jumilla. The group works across several denominations using each area's grapes, and here the source is D.O. Somontano in Aragón, where vineyards sit in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The altitude and cool mountain air give wide day to night temperature swings that preserve freshness and aromatic lift, while the stony soils keep yields in check. The wine is made from Tempranillo, gently pressed to take pale juice and fermented cool in stainless steel to protect the primary fruit and hold the style dry and crisp rather than sweet. The colour is a pale, inviting pink. The nose leads with strawberry and raspberry over citrus and a light floral note, and the palate is fresh and dry with bright lemony acidity and a clean, faintly saline finish. Serve well chilled at around 8 degrees.
