Description
Otto Bestue is one of the founding names of D.O. Somontano, a family with three centuries of winegrowing in the village of Enate, at the foot of the Pyrenees in Huesca. This rosado is pure Garnacha Tinta, the warm-climate grape that gives generous red fruit and a riper, rounder style of pink. The estate's 45 hectares sit on mixed soils, and the Somontano climate combines warm days with cool air drawn down from the mountains, a diurnal swing that ripens the Garnacha fully while keeping freshness in the fruit. Made in a young, unoaked style, the wine is pressed early and fermented cool to capture the primary aromatics, with no barrel ageing to obscure the fruit. The wine is bright pink. The nose is fruit-forward, with red berries, cherry and a ripe stone fruit note over light florals and citrus peel. The palate is dry but generous, medium in weight, with ripe fruit balanced by fresh acidity and a clean finish. Serve chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees.
