Description
Berry Bros and Rudd is one of London's oldest wine and spirit merchants, and this Guyana single cask was chosen with La Maison du Whisky from the Diamond distillery. It spent 16 years in an ex-bourbon barrel before bottling at an approachable 47.7%.
Diamond is the lighter, cleaner side of Guyanese rum, well away from the oily Port Mourant powerhouse. Expect molasses, toffee, light wood and a touch of bitter chocolate, the kind of balanced, well integrated aged Demerara that wears its lower strength comfortably. Molasses based and matured in the gentler European climate, it favours poise and drinkability over raw power.
