Belguardo Rosato comes from the Mazzei family’s estate in the Maremma, on the Tuscan coast, made from Sangiovese with a little Syrah. Cherry pink and dry, it shows citrus, raspberry and strawberry with a subtle herbal lift.
Description
Belguardo is the Mazzei family's estate in the southern Maremma, the warm coastal corner of Tuscany, and this rosato is one of its most established wines. It is made mainly from Sangiovese with a little Syrah, grown near the Tyrrhenian coast where sea breezes and bright sunlight give ripe fruit balanced by fresh acidity. The grapes are pressed gently with short skin contact to extract a delicate pink colour, then fermented cool in stainless steel to preserve aromatics and primary fruit rather than build oak character. The colour is an appealing cherry pink. The nose is vibrant, with citrus, raspberry and strawberry over red currant and a subtle herbal note that lends definition. The palate is dry and crisp, light to medium bodied, with fresh acidity, clean red fruit and a savoury, faintly herbal finish that reflects the Sangiovese base. This is a structured, food friendly Mediterranean rosé. Serve well chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees. It pairs with grilled fish, seafood pasta and lighter poultry.
