This Speyside Distillery single malt, an official release and bottled at 43%. The Speyside Distillery, built by hand on a former barley mill site at Tromie Mills, the most southerly Speyside distillery, is the source of the SPEY malts. It is the most southerly of the Speyside distilleries, nearest of all to the source of the Spey.

Distilled on River Tromie water in a tiny pair of pot stills, building the gentle Speyside style it is loved for. Maturation in a Port cask lent plum and red berry. Without an age statement, the malt is clean, fruity and gently honeyed. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the honeyed, fruity core over time. Beinn Dubh is darkened to an inky black, a rich style in the mould of the old Cu Dhubh. It is the most southerly Speyside distillery, nearest of all to the source of the Spey. The first single malt, Drumguish, was released in 1993 after three years in the warehouse.

At an approachable 43% it is light and balanced. Dark and rich, treacle, espresso and black fruit lead over a sweet malt. Beneath the dark fruit run coffee, treacle and a sweet malt. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers. This is the dark, rich Beinn Dubh of the Speyside Distillery.
