A single cask Australian rum from Beenleigh, finished in a Palo Cortado sherry cask by Maison Ferrand, pot-distilled from molasses, over twelve years old and unsweetened at 45.4%.
Description
Beenleigh Plantation 2009 is a single cask from Beenleigh, one of Australia's oldest distilleries, bottled by Maison Ferrand under its Plantation label and drawn from the 2009 vintage with more than twelve years of age. The distinguishing touch is a finish in a Palo Cortado sherry cask.
The make is molasses based and pot distilled, and unusually for this house it is bottled unsweetened at 45.4%. Expect the nutty, dried fruit and oxidative character that a Palo Cortado finish brings, layered over the gently aged molasses rum. It is a more focused, dry expression than the brand's mainstream blends, with the sherry cask doing much of the talking.
