Description
Cantina Beato Bartolomeo da Breganze, a long established growers' cooperative in the Veneto, makes this Prosecco DOC from the Treviso zone using the native Glera grape. It is produced by the Charmat method, the second fermentation carried out in pressurised stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature rather than in bottle. That approach, together with keeping the wine off oak, protects Glera's fresh orchard fruit and floral character. The extra dry dosage leaves a touch of fruity roundness while the wine stays lively and clean.
The colour is pale straw with green tints and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose shows green apple, pear and citrus peel over white flowers, with white peach and a honeysuckle note behind. The palate is light and fresh, the gentle sweetness of the extra dry style balanced by clean acidity and a soft mousse, finishing crisp. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass or flute. It makes an easy aperitif and pairs with light salads, white fish and delicate shellfish.
