A bright, tropical Panamanian from BBC Spirit’s Bocatheva line, a 6 Year Old leaning on yellow and tropical fruit, pear and pineapple over fresh sugarcane, sweet and fruity at 45% with an unusually lively nose for the country.
Description
BBC Spirit Bocatheva Rum of Panama is a 6 Year Old Panamanian ron under the Bocatheva label from independent bottler BBC Spirit. Column distilled and aged in ex-bourbon oak, it is bottled at 45% and stands out for a fruit forward character that is less typical of Panama's usually mellow, vanilla led profile.
The nose is notably lively, with yellow fruits, pear, dried fruit and tropical fruit, then a sweet, tropical palate of pineapple, sugarcane and ripe fruit, closing simply on pineapple and sweetness. There is a fruity, almost nail polish lift on the nose that drinkers find unusual for the region, and the mouthfeel runs mildly spicy and quite sweet, reading sugary in places. It comes across as a soft, fruity, easy sipper rather than a dry or austere one, a pleasant and approachable Panamanian for those who enjoy bright tropical fruit and gentle sweetness over wood and spice.
