Baumann Gletschereis Eis und Feuerlikör is produced by Tiroler Kräuterdestillerie Baumann, an Austrian herb distillery in the Tyrol with more than a hundred years of work behind it. The house uses Tyrolean mountain spring water, sun ripened fruit and hand picked plants, with herbs, seeds and berries supplied by Tyrolean mountain farmers and a recipe kept to the family. Described as the epitome of a fire liqueur and one of the traditional classics of the style, it is bottled at a forceful 50% ABV.

The nose is intense and fresh with herbs and bitter oranges, the palate slightly bitter across high mountain herbs and bitter oranges, and the finish long. A mint, anise, wormwood and gentian base gives it a bittersweet herbal spine. On a back bar it offers bitterness, aromatic lift and heat in one pour, which makes it natural as an ice cold shot, a bitter accent in a stirred herbal drink, or a warming measure in hot serves where the bitter orange cuts sweetness. As the name suggests, it is best straight from the freezer, served as cold as possible.
