Description
Barraco Terre Siciliane Zibibbo comes from Nino Barraco, one of the leading natural winemakers of western Sicily, based near Marsala in the province of Trapani. The Zibibbo grows on limestone soils close to the coast, where the maritime influence and chalky ground give the wine its saline, mineral character and bright line of acidity. Barraco farms on biological principles in both vineyard and cellar, and the wine is a direct expression of its site. The grapes have brief skin contact, and the wine is aged in stainless steel rather than wood, which preserves the fresh, perfumed fruit of the Zibibbo and keeps the skin grip light and the colour pale. There is no oxidative oak character here, just clean texture and freshness. The colour is light gold. The nose shows apricot, orange peel, white flowers and white peach, with a herbal lift. The palate is dry and lightly textured, the limestone acidity and saline edge framing the stone fruit through a clean, mineral finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
