Description
Barón de Ley Rosado is a young rosé from D.O.Ca. Rioja, blended from Garnacha, Graciano and Tempranillo. The winery was founded in 1985 by a group of local professionals who modelled it on the Médoc châteaux, and it now farms over 600 hectares of vineyards across Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Navarra. The continental climate, with warm days and cool nights from the surrounding hills, ripens the fruit while holding the acidity that keeps this style fresh. Garnacha brings ripe strawberry and weight, Tempranillo adds red fruit and balance, and a little Graciano contributes acidity and aromatic lift. The juice is run off pale and fermented cool in stainless steel, a temperature controlled ferment that protects the primary aromatics, with no oak so the wine stays direct. The colour is a pale, youthful pink. The nose shows strawberry and raspberry, with a floral hint and a twist of citrus. The palate is dry and crisp, the red fruit carried by fresh acidity to a clean finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees as an aperitif or with light dishes such as white fish, poultry and salads.
