Bacardi Caribbean Spiced

Bacardi's Caribbean Spiced is a flavoured rum from the Puerto Rican giant, built around pineapple and coconut and bottled soft at 40%. It is unapologetically a flavoured, lightly sweetened bottling aimed at easy tropical drinking rather than serious sipping.

The nose is fruity, with pineapple, vanilla and caramel, and the palate delivers the promised coconut and pineapple over a sweet, fruity base, finishing sweet and tropical. The flavouring is clear and the sweetness light, which keeps it from turning cloying, and a soft, low-burn delivery makes it genuinely easy to drink. Its natural home is in a mixed drink, with cola or juice, where the ready-made pineapple-and-coconut character saves reaching for extra liqueurs. Some will happily sip it neat for its mild sweetness; treated as the tropical mixer it is, it is straightforward and pleasant.
