Aurum is an Italian orange liqueur bottled at 40%, built not on neutral spirit but on an aged Italian brandy, matured for around eight years before being enriched with sun ripened orange peel, selected herbs and saffron and then aged in oak. Its name comes from its golden colour and from the orange, aurantium, at its heart, and the brandy base with oak ageing gives it a richer, more rounded body than a clean triple sec. A more brandy led take on the orange liqueur.

The nose is floral with brandy and ripe oranges, the palate full bodied and silky with orange, mandarin and honey, finishing long, with saffron, oak and vanilla woven through. Behind the bar that depth is the point, where a clean triple sec lifts and brightens, Aurum adds richness, oak and a honeyed saffron warmth, which suits stirred and brandy based drinks and a warmed glass as a neat digestif. Use it where an orange liqueur with more body and colour is wanted, or pour it over ice to show its golden, saffron tinged character.
