Description
Atanasio Añejo is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from NOM 1599, the Familia Landeros distillery in Tequila, Jalisco, in the lowland Tierras Bajas valley where Cazcanes was once produced. Rested thirteen months in oak, it crosses the one year threshold that defines an añejo, where the cask becomes a partner to the agave rather than a background note.
The agave is autoclave cooked, roller milled, fermented in stainless tanks in the open air and twice distilled in a stainless pot still. Time in oak then layers in vanilla, caramel and wood, with the nose adding dried fruit, black pepper and a light buttery note. The palate carries cooked agave, caramel and oak with hints of vanilla, sweet confection and berry, bottled at 40% for a soft and rounded aged profile.
