Description
Tierras Atamisque is a French-owned estate in the Uco Valley of Mendoza, Argentina, founded by John Du Monceau and Chantal Du Monceau, with its first harvest in 2007. Serbal is the youngest and fruitiest of its ranges, named after the rowan tree of Celtic legend. The Uco Valley sits at high altitude in the Andes foothills, where intense sunlight ripens Malbec fully while cold nights preserve acidity, colour and fresh aromatics, giving the wine its balance. The stony alluvial soils drain freely and concentrate the fruit. This wine is aged in stainless steel rather than oak, a choice that keeps it fresh, primary and vividly fruited, with no wood flavour and firm natural acidity. The colour is deep violet-red. The nose is fruit driven, with ripe plum, red berries and cherry lifted by a floral violet note and dried herbs. The palate is medium to full bodied and juicy, with ripe soft tannin, a peppery edge and a fresh finish. Serve at 16 degrees. It is an easy, versatile red for grilled meat and roasted vegetables.
