Description
Asaka Yamazakura New Born Cask #6250 is a single-cask, cask-strength release from Sasanokawa Shuzo's Asaka distillery in Fukushima prefecture, distilled and bottled in 2017 as part of the ongoing New Born series. At this stage, with only months in oak, the release functions as a document of the distillery's new-make character rather than a mature expression.
The Ex-Bourbon cask is just beginning its work at this age, lending the faintest vanilla and cereal softness to the underlying spirit. The Asaka house character is typically clean and fruit-driven, and at 63.2% ABV the spirit is direct and lively. This bottling was made for the domestic Japanese market and sits alongside the other New Born casks from 2016 and 2017 as part of Asaka's transparent record of its early production.
