Description
Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro sits at Quintanilla de Onésimo in Valladolid, in the heart of Ribera del Duero. This rosé is a single varietal Tempranillo from vines over 25 years old planted on Finca La Planta, a large estate where pines and oaks share the land with wild boar and deer. The soils are calcareous clay over bedrock, and the limestone content holds water and lends freshness and lift to a wine grown in a continental climate of cold nights and hot days. That wide diurnal range slows ripening and preserves natural acidity, which is what gives a Ribera rosé its tension. The wine is made to a pale style, with short skin contact to draw delicate colour and red fruit from the Tempranillo before pressing and a cool fermentation to protect the aromatics. The result is a pale pink wine with floral and red fruit aromas, strawberry and red currant with a touch of white peach. The palate is dry, light and fresh, with clean acidity and a clear finish. Serve chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees as an aperitif or with light dishes through the warmer months.
