Description
Artazuri Rosado is a single-variety Garnacha rosé from Bodegas y Vinedos Artazu, part of the Artadi group, in D.O. Navarra in northern Spain. The grapes come from organically farmed plots around the village of Artazu, planted between 450 and 600 metres on white clay-limestone soils. The altitude brings a wide day-to-night temperature swing that slows ripening and locks in acidity and aromatics, while the calcareous soils give freshness and lift; the harvest is done by hand into small crates. Garnacha is well suited to this pale, fruit-forward rosado style, pressed gently and fermented cool in stainless steel with no oak, so the focus stays on bright fruit and freshness. It pours a delicate pale pink. The nose shows ripe strawberry, red cherry and juicy peach with a subtle floral hint. The palate is fresh and fruit-driven, the red berry and stone fruit carried by crisp acidity from the high-altitude site, finishing clean and lightly citrus-edged. It is generous but kept lively by its mountain freshness. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
