Arran Sherry – Single Cask 11 Years Old 1998

The Sherry Single Cask programme produced multiple bottlings drawing on the 1998 Oloroso cask inventory, with individual casks bottled at slightly different ages and ABVs based on bottling year and cask character. Cask 353 was filled in 1998 and matured eleven years before bottling in 2009 for the Belgian market through the series. The 283 bottle outturn reflects the working yield of the single Oloroso cask.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 1998 and matured eleven years in a single Oloroso seasoned cask. Bottled in 2009 at 53% without chill filtration and without added colour.

Eleven years of Oloroso cask maturation extends the integration time beyond the ten year point, with continued slow development of the sherry compound layer. The cask supplies sotolon, furfural and the developing oxidised polyphenols from the original wine ageing, while the underlying Arran spirit signature from the 1998 distillation year retains visibility through the cask interaction. The 53% cask strength preserves the full lipid fraction and textural weight of the unfiltered spirit.
